Everything merchants ask us about ProfitPulse — setup, accuracy, billing, and data.
Getting started
What does this app actually do?
It calculates real net profit per order and per product — revenue minus cost of goods, payment processing fees, shipping cost, and ad spend — and shows it on a dashboard, using your store's own order and product data. No spreadsheets, no manual math.
Will it change my theme, checkout, or storefront?
No. The app only reads orders, products, and inventory, and writes to one optional order metafield (shipping cost) if you choose to use it. Your storefront, checkout, and theme are never touched.
How long does setup take?
About 5 minutes. Install the app, confirm your payment processing fee percentage, fill in cost per item for any products missing it, and you're already seeing accurate numbers on the dashboard.
Do I need to install anything on my storefront?
No code, no theme edits, no additional installs — everything runs inside the app itself.
Costs & accuracy
How is Net Profit calculated?
Net Profit = Revenue − Cost of Goods Sold − Payment Processing Fees − Shipping Cost − Refunds − Ad Spend, computed per order and summed for the period you're viewing.
Why do I need to set a cost per item?
Shopify doesn't have a required "cost" field for every product, so if it's missing, the app can't know your margin on that item. Orders missing cost data are flagged so you always know which numbers are complete.
What if I don't know my exact shipping cost?
Shopify's API doesn't expose what you actually paid for a shipping label, only what the customer paid at checkout (which is revenue, not cost). If you fill in the optional "Actual Shipping Cost" field per order, it's used; otherwise shipping cost is shown as untracked rather than guessed.
Why is profit $0 or negative on some orders?
Usually a fully refunded order, a high-discount order, or an order whose product cost hasn't been set yet. Check the order in the Orders table — the reason is shown alongside the row.
Ad spend
How do I log ad spend?
In the Ad Spend tab, either add a bulk total that gets spread evenly across a date range, or enter exact daily amounts if you know them.
What happens if I forget to log a day?
Missing days are treated as $0 ad spend for that day and flagged with a warning banner on the dashboard, so profit is never silently inflated without you noticing.
Billing
Is there a free trial?
Yes — a 14-day free trial, no charge until it ends.
How much does it cost after the trial?
$14.99/month, billed and processed entirely by Shopify — the app itself never sees your card details.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, directly from your Shopify billing settings, at any time.
Data & privacy
Do you store my customers' personal data?
No. The app never reads or stores customer names, emails, addresses, or phone numbers — only order totals, line items, and product cost data.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Everything tied to your store is deleted automatically, both immediately on uninstall and again via Shopify's mandatory data-deletion webhook.
